Kucing persia adalah ras kucing yang termasuk berbulu panjang atau disebut juga dengan Longhair Cat, mempunyai wajah yang lebar dan hidung yang pesek.  Kucing ini berasal dari Persia yaitu nama terdahulu dari negri Iran. Dari namanya saja kita sudah dapat menebak bahwa kucing tersebut berasal dari Persia atau Iran pada dikala ini. Pertama kali dibawa atau diperkenalkan ke negara Italia pada sektar tahun 1620 oleh seorang Pietro Della Valle dan kemudian diperkenalkan atau dibawa pula dari negara Turki ke negara Perancis oleh Nicholas Claude fabri de Peiresc.

Disebutkan dalam sejarah kucing persia bahwa dahulunya tidak berbulu panjang, kucing ini di besarkan di negara turki dengan Angoras Turki (kucing Anggora) yang berbulu panjang.
