Kucing anggora adalah hewan kesayang yang merupakan salah satu kucing ras tertua. Kucing anggora berasal dari Angora sebuah kota di Turki. Kota Angora semenjak th. 1930 disebut dengan Ankara. Selayang pandang, bila kita lihat kucing anggora menyerupai dan hampir sama dengan kucing persia, tetapi bila kita perhatikan secara seksama maka akan tampak terang perbedaannya pada hidung, tubuh dan bulunya. Kucing persia biasanya berhidung pesek, berbadan agak membulat dan sekujur badannya berbulu panjang. Sedangkan kucing anggora biasanya berhidung mancung, berbadan agak ramping dan bulunya panjang pada bagia-bagian tertentu saja.

Kucing anggora dikenal juga dengan kucing Angora Turki (Turkish Angora) atau juga dikenal juga dengan sebutan kucing Ankara Kedisi. Sebenarnya ras kucing Anggora Turki yang asli, bermata biru atau kucing dan bulunya hanya berwarna putih. Dilihat dari data pencarian diinternet, kucing anggora dan persia merupakan ras kucing tertinggi yang sering dicari. Mengapa tidak, kedua ras kucing tersebut memang mempunyai penampilan yang begitu indah untuk dijamah. Makara tidak heran, begitu banyak pecinta kucing yang mengadopsi ras kucing tersebut.

Kucing Turkish Angora pada ahun 1954 pertama kali resmi diimport ke AS. Dan pertama kali di pendaftaran Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) pada tahun 1968, yang waktu itu kucing Anggora Putih. Pada tahun 1970 dan 1972 diadakan kompetisi kucing Anggora. Pada tahun 1976 pertama kalinya memperoleh CFA Grand Champion, dari data diatas kucing tersebut memang sudah banyak yang suka.
